What /manage/ is, and finding your section

If Rodrigo has asked you to look after part of the site, /manage/ is where you do it. It is your workspace: the forms for adding things, and the list of the things you have added.

A 404 is the normal answer, not a fault

Signed out, /manage/ returns a 404 — your browser will tell you the page does not exist. So will it if you are signed in but Rodrigo has not given you a section yet. That is deliberate: the workspace does not advertise itself to people who have no business with it. If somebody sends you the link and you get a 404, sign in first, and if it still 404s then the section has not been handed over yet. Nothing is broken.

What you look after

A grant covers one section, not the site. Today there are two: the noticeboard and the auctions. Being a noticeboard manager does not make you an auction manager, and the shop is not a managed section at all.

What you can and cannot reach

• You reach your own items only. Other people’s, including Rodrigo’s, are invisible to you.
• You never enter the WordPress admin area, and you hold no admin powers. The whole job happens on ordinary pages on the front of the site.
• You cannot publish. Everything you write waits for Rodrigo to approve it.
• You reach no money, no orders and no other member’s details.

That last point is what makes the whole thing safe to hand to a friend. The worst a mistake can do is waste somebody’s reading time.
