Hethor is your standard intrepid boy hero with hardly any characterisation, there’s no smooth character development, his love interest is preternaturally supportive and understanding and flawless, the ending left me unfulfilled, the writing felt stilted and overly-formal at times, and I had a really hard time just grasping some of Lake’s description and exactly how his world fits together.

The pacing is nonexistent and the tone is bipolar at best. I would have loved to see some diagrams. Legacy, Eon, and Eternity. Hathor’s entire existence is being uprooted by his experiences, and Lake does everything in the writer’s book o’ tricks to enhance that feeling of being lost and confused, a stranger in a strange land.
