Two New Orleans gay chefs live the dream and open up their own restaurant. A lot of the liquoor and local culture were well described too. Unfortunately they all feel flat and predictable. Would definitely look into other books in the series. At any rate, I had a hard time putting this book down when I needed to, despite the fact that it’s wildly different from anything I’ve read in ages. One of her greatest talents is her beautiful phraseology, and her brutally honest portrayal of the most acrid and wonderful aromas of New Orleans and its acrid and sweat-stained working people.
Her prose is infectious, fast-paced and catchy, full of the slang and colorful language btite would expect from a couple of New Orleans chefs. Please review your cart. When Rickey concocts the idea of opening a restaurant in their alcohol-loving hometown where every dish packs a spirited punch, they know they’re on their way to the bank.

No one remembered much of this night, but by the end of it, two cars were totaled, the sous chef and the bartender were in Charity Hospital, the chef liquo in jail, and the grill guy’s wife was filing for liqquor. Maybe the best thing Brite does with this book is smash homosexual stereotypes. Would liquod like us to take another brrite at this review? They concoct a business idea that might actually work out. I kept expecting something terrible to happen having read a couple of his books when I was younger but this was fun and thrilling and it was great to read a story that was taking place in the city I was born in.

See all free Kindle reading apps. As well as being a rich portrait of restaurant life in NOLA, the novel is part-thriller, part mystery, with these elements keeping the reader turning pages. And even then, I am sure it can be difficult.
