I love this book!!! To give the profound maternal urge in little girls no quarter, to channel it off to dolls when there are real infants about, is among other things a serious disservice to the children of the little girl when she grows up. Or liedlofff awesome it is that the girls’ in the indigenous cultures greatest joy stems from the pleasure of bringing their father a drink of water.

She blames homosexuality, drug abuse, fussy babies, loneliness, isolation, lack of independence, and sadness of the Western world on our childrens’ lack I was expecting much more from this book. As is Huck’s Raft: Just keep on loving them.

The Continuum Concept : Jean Liedloff :

They are not controlled by others, they are free. Liedloff is often called the mother of attachment parenting, and lots of parents I trust recommended this book to me. They rarely experience strangers, crowds, or machines.

See and discover other items: Most xontinuum I know find motherhood isolating. Another idea I liked about the book was the concept that children, like all humans, are social animals and they do what they think is expected of them. But now, much less then when I read this for the first time, I haven’t a clue as to what to do with this insight.

Once I figured this out my back continyum stopped going out and is completely fine. He said nothing, but smiled and poked about nearby for a few minutes to show me he was well, then wandered off to join the other boys. I cannot believe that, because of this decision, my baby will not grow into a happy, secure child or adult.

I liked the overall teachings though – they warmed my heart and every parent should let themselves be inspired by books like that.

This was probably groundbreaking in the time it was written, and is still groundbreaking today for people who haven’t been exposed to ideas outside of the mainstream. She narrats her opinions and I knew that from the start. Liedloff spent five months in the jungle.

She came to the realisation that essential child-rearing techniques such as touch, trust and community have been undermined in modern times, and in this book suggests practical ways to regain our natural well-being, for our children and ourselves.

Concepr do kids exist only when you choose for them to do so?

You can probably get this book from the library but I certainly do not regret this purchase. Pages with related products.

Liedloff’s chapter on The Beginning of Life — the first experiences and feelings that a baby has when she’s not in her mother’s arms — my gawd, how excruciatingly painful was that? She wished to hunt.

The Continuum Concept

Jaen live in a culture that in some aspects pits mother against baby, and tells us that a “good” baby is well trained. As that impulse diminished with satiety, continuuk next strongest came to the fore. It may be time to admit we fucked up, close down the mines and the factories, and start over. Liedloff died on March 15, in Sausalito, California. Transforming parent-child relationships from reaction and struggle to freedom, power and joy.

mean Consistent with the economical character of nature, he wants no more than he needs. Children play at archery without any safety rules without suffering accidents–except for the one time a boy shot his brother in the stomach, but it was only a flesh wound–and they canoe alone without drowning.

The good news is that Peak Cheap Energy is going to disrupt our patterns of living, and one of the possible outcomes is positive, beneficial change. Yeah, that resembles what I want for my girls. Continnuum some interesting insights are offered about parenting across cultures, the author’s hypotheses are hugely flawed.

But I did not then understand the continuum. It gives you hope for the species and it gives you something to do in regard to any mothers and infants you liedolff right now.
